This is a black light moleskin jacket from the 1920s or 1930s.
Moleskin was adopted as workwear in France. "Mole" means mole in English, and moleskin means mole fur.
The thick cotton threads are brushed on both sides of the fabric, creating a durable cotton material that is smooth and glossy like suede.
This particular jacket is made from light moleskin, a material that is extremely smooth and soft compared to regular moleskin.
It features the distinctive flared front design seen in older pieces, and is packed with vintage details such as a sewn round collar, V-pocket, and wooden buttons.
Of particular note are the four buttons on the front. Usually, five-button designs are the norm, but this is a rare four-button design.
Although the difference in detail is slight, there are very few existing specimens, making this an extremely rare and special piece.
Additionally, the buttons are made of wood. Wood buttons are prone to deterioration over time due to moisture and wear, and most pieces have been replaced. This piece still has all of the original wood buttons, and there are no cracks in any of the buttons, including on the sleeves. There are very few of these left in existence.
There is slight damage to the hem and sleeves. This is a perfect piece for your collection or archive.
