30s GERMAN ARMY WEHRMACHT DRILLICH LINEN HBT JACKET

HISTORY

The Drillich-Jacke is a workwear garment introduced by the German Wehrmacht in the early 1930s. This jacket was used for work in barracks, training, maintenance, etc. Unlike field uniforms, it was made primarily of linen and was issued as a practical item that could be worn comfortably even in the summer. This product is an early model made in 1934, and features a 6-button design that remains as it was at the time. The paper buttons, adopted as part of a metal saving initiative, are a detail from the pre-war to wartime period.

DETAIL

The material used is off-white herringbone linen. It has the jiggly, swaying feel that is unique to linen from ancient times, and its texture that softly conforms to the body is still attractive today. The placket uses six paper buttons that remain from the time. All are original and not missing. There is one chest pocket on the inside, and patch pockets on both sides of the waist. The overall structure is very simple, but the old details seen everywhere are irresistible for vintage lovers, and it is made in a straightforward manner that is typical of military uniforms of the time. The back of the collar is marked "S", but as you can see from the actual measurements, it is a large golden size. Although there are only a few of these rare items in existence, this is a highly recommended item that can be worn comfortably even in midsummer.

CONDITION

There is some light dirt. The hook at the neck is missing. Other than that, there is no damage related to wearing.
