The Anti-Gas Cape was first adopted in 1938 during World War II and was originally a full-length cape made of oilskin fabric. As the war progressed and the threat of gas attacks decreased, the specifications were changed so that soldiers could wear it as a dust protection (for sandstorms in the desert, etc.) .
It is a larger size because it was made to be worn over military wear. There is a box pocket on the left hip for gas cream and waste, ventilation under the armpits, and a "hump" shape on the back so that it can be worn over a backpack. There is a cotton webbing belt on the inside so that it can be rolled up and carried.
Many of these items cannot be worn due to the strong newey buttons, delicate cotton material, and damage from the time. Therefore, there are few in existence, and it is difficult to find one with little damage. Due to its rarity, it is a valuable item with collectors overseas. This item has dirt and a pinhole of about a few millimeters on the back, but there are no other issues that would make it unwearable. There is no loss of the inner webbing belt, and considering the background, it is in good condition.
