40s French Army M-47 Field Trousers Early Model Modified

This is a cotton twill type from the previous model. It is dead stock and has not yet been washed or faded.

This is a well-known masterpiece that goes without saying, and can be said to be the origin and pinnacle of military pants. The distinctive feature of these pants is that they are carefully crafted even in the parts that cannot be seen.

The pocket flaps are reinforced with lining. Even the side pockets are double-welted pockets that require a lot of work to sew, and even when turned inside out, there is a patch on the crotch and reinforcement on the pockets. This M-47 has so many intricate details that it would be endless to list them all.

Martin Margiela was so fascinated by these intricately crafted pants that he famously had models wear them inside out on the runway.

I feel that this level of craftsmanship was only possible thanks to the French techniques that are at the origin of fashion. These pants are embodied in the techniques that were only possible thanks to the craftsmanship of the people who were involved in the manufacture of clothing at the time, who then produced these garments as military uniforms.
