In the 1950s in France, artists and art school students wore the "Atelier Coat" to protect their clothes from getting dirty. The material was a marbled black cotton chongbrai.

"AU MOLINEL"
A long-established workwear brand founded in 1845 on Rue de la Linelle in northeastern France.
They have continued to make workwear to the present day. Located close to the border with Belgium, Lille developed as a thriving trading town, and from around the 19th century, it developed into an industrial city centered on the textile industry. Molinel was one of these companies, and the {Au MOLINEL} brand name comes from "Rue de Molinel," the main thoroughfare in the old town of Lille.
It fits my body type well and is comfortable to wear. The length is also long. I wear it loosely over a cut-and-sew top. I also recommend wearing it over a knit in the early fall.
