50s French Work Blue Moleskin Jacket

This is a French vintage moleskin jacket from an estimated 1940s-1950s.

"Mole" means the animal in English, and moleskin refers to the fur of a mole.

Thick cotton threads are woven not only on one side but on both sides of the fabric, brushed. Moleskin is woven at high density, so it requires a large amount of thread and effort, making mass production difficult. It is said that after 1950, workwear was replaced by cotton twill. It is a durable cotton material with a smooth, suede-like luster. It is a highly popular item as a "growing item" that becomes more comfortable with wear and ages beautifully, like American vintage denim.

Although the brand tag is missing, this piece truly showcases the charm of classic moleskin. It's an excellent example of an item that was cherished and carefully repaired for a long time, as it was difficult to easily replace items back then.

The faded ink blue and patchwork repairs throughout, along with the contrasting sleeves, create a unique texture. The buttons have been replaced with different materials such as wood and plastic, adding to the charm with details that tell a vintage story.

Its appearance changes with wear, making it a piece to be passed down through generations. It fits perfectly on my build (reference size). I highly recommend this item to anyone looking for a well-worn moleskin jacket.
