80s British Royal Air Force MK3 Cold Weather Aircrew Jacket

This is a Royal Air Force MK3 jacket made in 1980.

The MK3 flight jacket was used by the Royal Air Force for about 50 years, from the 1960s to around 2010. During that time, there were some small changes to the details, but there were no major changes to the design, and it is considered to have been a very well-finished jacket. The hood is stored in the collar, and there is a chin strap and a beavertail on the back. It is a masterpiece filled with military gimmicks. The silhouette is short. With its roomy width and arm circumference, this jacket is just right for the current mood.

The material used is high-density woven Ventile cotton. This functional material was created to increase the time before water seeps in, prevent body temperature drops, and increase the chance of survival when crashing into cold European seawater. The material specifications have now been changed, with Gore-Tex replacing the MK4 jacket.
