The "506XX (Type I/commonly known as 1st)", which first appeared around 1940, is considered the origin of the denim jacket. Its minimalist design, centered around a single front pocket, was based on the rationality of workwear. Later, during World War II, under material control, the details were simplified, and the design became symbolic of its "reduced" nature, with a flapless chest pocket and four front buttons.
