90s Invertere wool hbt duffle coat moorbrok fabric

HISTORY

This is a 1990s duffle coat made by Invertere, a long-established British coat brand founded in 1904. Invertere is known for being the world's first reversible coat, and "invertere" means "to turn around" in Latin. Since its founding, the brand has continued to provide the highest quality coats to the wealthy.

The material is particularly noteworthy. The herringbone wool used was woven by the now-defunct Moorbrook company on an old-fashioned loom, one of only four in the world. Due to the recession and inefficiency, the company went out of business, but the rare loom is now owned by the prestigious British company Joshua Ellis. It's no wonder that Hermès once fell in love with the material and used it, making this exquisite fabric's thick, wavy herringbone fabric a captivating presence.

It is thick yet soft and airy, making it comfortable to wear without feeling heavy. The warmth and softness of the fabric is unique to old-fashioned looms with low weaving tension. This item has no lining, so you can enjoy the texture of the fabric against your skin. It has an extremely soft texture, without any of the prickly feeling or discomfort that is typical of wool. The toggles are made with buffalo horn and leather loops, creating a luxurious finish down to the smallest detail.
