These pants were manufactured in the early 1960s for East German National People's Army (NVA) sniper/reconnaissance soldiers. Blumentarn was a camouflage pattern used by the National People's Army (NVA) of the former East Germany (DDR = German Democratic Republic) from 1956 to 1967. As its nickname, which means "flower" in German, suggests, it features a pattern of petal-like spots. Its official name is "Flächentarnmuster" (surface camouflage pattern). Irregular blue-green, olive, and brown spots are scattered across a gray background. While it was discontinued shortly after its release for visibility and diplomatic reasons, its beauty and rarity have made it a highly sought-after model.

The "C 1" and "II 62" ink stamps are stamped on the inside of the waistband. This particular item is from the second quarter of 1962. D-rings are attached to the waist for suspenders or equipment hanging. The flap cargo pockets feature NVA-specific resin buttons, and the hem has a drawstring for an adjustable silhouette. The fabric is medium-weight cotton poplin, retaining the original anti-gas coating. With repeated wear and washing, the coating will peel off and fade, changing the contrast of the camouflage, creating a fascinating process. The three-dimensional construction is typical of military garments, with details like a patch on the back hip and hexagonal knee patches designed for prolonged prone firing.

This item is in deadstock condition. The D-ring has some slight rust due to storage over time, but there are no other scratches or damage, and it is in excellent condition, retaining the atmosphere of the time.
